Columbia University recently announced this year's Pullitzer Prize winners and the list of chosen ones included Bob Dylan who won the special citation category. Dylan's win proved to be a breakthrough for the Rock n Roll music industry as the Pulitzer judges have long favored classical music, and more recently, jazz.
Apparently, Dylan is considered one of the most acclaimed and influential songwriters for the past five decades. Many have regarded him as a cultural phenomenon and a singer with one of the most distinctive and incredible voices in popular music. Since his days of writing protest songs like "Blowin' in the Wind," fans have been obsessed with his lyrics and to date, critics and fans alike believed that no one has written better lyrics than Dylan.
In 1988, Dylan was named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The singer and songwriter's work has also been analyzed in classrooms and lecture halls and his memoir "Chronicles - Volume One" received a National Critics Circle Nomination in 2005. Dylan's most celebrated songs included "Like A Rolling Stone," "Mr.Tambourine Man," and "The Times They Are A-Changing."
