Ghoulish Girls: Part 2
So here is the second part of my rundown of the ghoulish girls of horror cinema. This time we have a selection of real evil as they are examples of whom have provided some of the most graphic and horrifying scenes to ever have marred the mind. Whether you’re into possession, profanity, brutality or ghosts; suffering is there, sealed in the spirit of these girls and aching to be released on any who dare to enter their world.
Regan
MacNeil (Linda Blair)
The
Exorcist
If you have
ever thought of playing with a ouija board then you might want to see The Exorcist
first and consider whether you want to end up being tossed around in violent
spasms, mutilating your own genitals and contorting your limbs so that North
becomes South and East becomes West. Regan MacNeil was your average happy child; full of life, love and
kindness to those around her. There was
not a trace of hatred or malice that could be even slightly detected, that is
before her transformation into a demonic slut in Satan’s service, begging to
be…well let’s just say used, stabbing herself repeatedly with her once symbol
of purity (crucifix) and using the foulest language that you ever did hear (I
can’t quote as I think Moviezen would be forced too kick me off the website). Teaming up with Captain Howdy, the evil spirit
she released by messing with the ouija board, Regan was such a vile and
upsetting character that she managed to traumatise viewers, driving them from
the cinema and into the safeguard of paramedics. Regan’s ability to psychoanalyse those who
oppose her is probably her greatest strength and planting seeds of doubt is a
means of defecating on anything she may perceive as being holy. Giving Freddy Kreuger a run for his money in
the face department, it is as though the blackness of her rotten soul is so
poisonous that it has torn its way to the surface and then weaved itself in and
out of her epidermis leaving cuts, scars, stale blood and scabby lips, with eyes
like golf-balls. Be seriously warned,
especially if you are a parent and wish to keep your image of little Jimmy or
Julie untainted.
Asami
Yamazaki (Eihi Shiina)
Audition
Like Carrie in part one, Asami has an exterior that you couldn’t possibly believe could be housing a spirit so tortured, slashed and scolded that it would drive her to seek such brutal revenge. Asami is, like many Japanese females, servile, quiet, introverted and sweet, at least that’s what we’re led to believe at first, but in actuality there is such rage swirling around her insides that a lust for the perverse and cruel is born. She is a woman who has become very cynical of men due to the abuse she has endured, believing everything they say to be a lie and that by suffering at the hands of her experiments in physical pain they may actually begin to understand. It would be unfair of the viewer to just dismiss Asami as a psychopath in the same way that Annie was as Asami is actually relatively sane, aware of her actions within reality and believing to be totally justified in them. Oversensitive and thoughtful is a more apt description given her pre-meditated and calculated violence, though she is not justified in her actions, and the torture she inflicts on the genuinely caring Shigeharu is selfish, as she is so desperate for his whole love and attention that even his love for his son is unacceptable. Her skill at piercing Shigeharu’s eyes with needles and amputating his feet certainly does make you think twice about how much you actually trust and feel safe with those close to you, so if you see a copy of this film, a bottle of chloroform and a sowing kit in your lover’s residence, get the hell out.
Sadako
Yamamura (Inou Rie)
Ringu,
Ringu 2
Sadako has
probably become one of the most infamous ghosts since Casper
Well there you have it, the most ghoulish girls of cinema. Why don’t you make their acquaintance, but be sure to offer no resistance as now you know exactly what a woman scorned is capable of. Pleasant screams.
