It seemed obvious to any who had watched this season of the
Bachelor that London Bachelor Matt Grant would choose Shayne Dahl Lamas to be
his wife. They had a special relationship almost from the start. The second
runner-up didn’t even come close, although Matt attempted to make a good show
of it last night on the season finale, trying to convince TV Land that Chelsea had any chance at
all. But the only person who seemed convinced of that was Chelsea. Somehow I thought she should have
known better.
At first glance, Shayne Dahl Lamas--the daughter of
Hollywood actor Lorenzo
Lamas, granddaughter of legendary Fernando Lamas and Arlene Dahl ( hence
her middle name), and the step granddaughter of Esther Williams—seemed
like just another Hollywood bimbo offspring of a broken Hollywood marriage. In
fact, her parents had multiple broken marriages.
But there’s much more to Shayne than that Hollywood cliché. She is both woman and child in her affectionate expressions with Matt
and her directness is refreshing. Even her actress-personality, which
originally caused Matt to be suspicious of her intentions, becomes a playful
attribute with Matt. I became protective of her and, if for some bizarre reason
Matt did choose Chelsea,
I would want to go after him and demand justice.
Even in defeat Shayne would have shown more maturity
and class than Chelsea did. Shayne said if she’s not chosen, it will break her heart. But, then, it
would also mean that she wasn’t right for Matt. When you truly love someone,
you can reach that conclusion—you don’t, out of anger and spite, attack the
women he did choose—as Chelsea did last night, showing her true colors and a
real lack of class.
The Bachelor chose the right woman in Shayne. I wish them many years of happiness.
