Relating to Movies
Have you ever read a book and got so caught up in it as if it were really happening to you? I know that is the reason why most people read books, so that they can get lost in many pages of eye catching literature. However, movies are like that to me. Don't get me wrong, I love a good book, but over the years and 3 kids later, I have lost the time to read. So my way of getting "lost" is by watching a really good movie.
I've been a fan of movies since I was little, but the fascination grew over time to where it's almost a hobby to collect movies. Honestly I have over 800 of them...both being DVD and VHS. At first it was like a game between me and my mom, a sort of "let's see who has the most movies." I know it sounds petty, but it was fun. Now, because I am such a lover of film, I collect them just for the fact that I love them so much. With all the stresses of daily life, I don't really have a way of releasing my stress or just plain 'ol relaxing. But then I started noticing how whatever movie I watched would affect me. If I needed to cry I would watch "Uptown Girls" because it starts out as a light-hearted comedy but then the last 15 minutes are so crushing and emotional. Or if I'm in a "lovey-dovey" mood, then I would watch "Never Been Kissed" because I would have loved to have waited to have my first "true" kiss. If I feel like being brave and feel like getting the pants scared off of me, then I would watch "The Grudge." Those are just a few examples of how I "de-stress."
Movies to me are a wonderful getaway...I might even go as far as to say that they are the best therapy. They are my way of dealing with stress, dealing with emotional turmoil, a way to laugh if I've had a hard day, and also a way to learn about the different types of people. I've lived without the internet, phone, and TV, but take away my movies and you'd have a serious lunatic on your hands.

I am that way too. When I was younger,I loved to read and felt as if I were a character in the book, sometimes even feeling that I was living what was happening in the book. Now,with family and other responsibilities,it is harder to find time to read.I love to escape into a movie.Sometimes I get so caught up that I forget about what's going on around me.I have a long list of movies that I watch for different moods.I wish I had more movies than what I do,but lack of money prevents me having more.I do have about 200 though. That's not counting ones I've taped off of TV onto blank VHS tapes.

That is EXACTLY how I was (books) and am now (movies)! Too funny! Sometimes, I get so lost that I actually forget that I have children (if they are quiet) until one of them cries/screams. Thank you so much for letting me know that I'm not the only one out there, LoL!!
